We've had the Dakota Fields retractable awning (395cm x 250cm) since May 2025 and have been very happy with it. We went with a manual (non-motorized) version as winding it out is fairly straightforwards and not a hassle. For whatever minor inconvenience that comes with that process, it far outweighs the hassle factor that comes with when the motorized unit eventually fails and the hassle that goes with replacement and inability to be used so I haven't regretted that decision—it operates easily and keeps things simple. We had it installed by a local builder, and every winter we keep it fully rolled in to protect it from the weather. As you can see from the image below - a protective shield over the item during prolonger periods of non-use will most likely prevent the bleaching. The only minor issue we've noticed is a small amount of discolouration on the outer edge, which we suspect is from sun bleaching of the section that remains exposed while the awning is rolled up. A protective cover during prolonged periods of non-use would probably help prevent this. Overall, it's been a great purchase and offers excellent value (€279) so I would recommend it to as a buy.. Fabulous Large box with lock. Took a while to build as its got lots of screws, washers and nuts. The instruction were not too bad but some part were hard to understand. (Used you tube for help with the lock) Once made the box is sturdy and moves about on the wheels easily. being metal it should be great in winter, however, it does has some small gaps at the bottom so i am going to use a water proof silicon to make a complete barrier to the outside, no spiders or insects getting in that way. Delivered on time but a little disappointed with the colour as slightly darker grey than in the picture. Took me about an hour and a half to put together as one of the holes just slightly off so had to keep loosening other screws around it to eventually get them all in. Once put together looks and feels very sturdy. Please check every part for breaks in the rattan as it was only when I had nearly finished that I noticed a break near one of the screws. Unfortunately it is right on the corner at the front of the box and unable to try and rejoin the pieces as pieces missing but I could not face taking all screws out to return the box so have kept it.
