It should stop the dog from getting to places where ge is not meant to be! However some aspects of the build quality are not well made. This is a really well made item and easy to shuffle around. We have used this In many places of our house, and would definitely consider buying another. Just think if you go to a friends house for example you can fold this up and take with!
