Not sure if the lights were designed to be shortened in length by the chain but they were too long for our living room. We managed to shorten them but it was very difficult to do so as well as putting them up. All that aside I love looking at them, they look elegant and beautiful. Very pleased with my purchase

Looks really nice in my lounge. Not bad value. Assembly easy. Not that keen on the shades and will be changing these out to more grander looking shades, but are nice - just didn't go with my current decor.
