The STAUB cast iron plancha, or teppanyaki, can be used for cooking as well as serving purposes. It can be used on the hob and in the oven and is perfect for the BBQ. It has a cooking area of 38cm length x 25cm width. The overall length including handles is 47cm. Perfect for high temperature frying to sear meat, fish or vegetables to get caramelisation that's full of flavour. The matte black enamel cooking surface acts like a micro-grill, helping to develop flavour. The cast iron heats evenly so there are no hot spots which helps to prevent burning your food. Cast iron also retains heat very well so the power can be reduced once your pan is up to temperature, saving energy. Heat resistant up to 250°c/500°f. Made by STAUB in France.

Storage space is an issue for me so I was drawn to this folding handle grill. The cooking surface is large. The enamel coating on the cast iron makes it easy to clean and maintain without the hassle of seasoning. The iron itself heats very evenly and retains heat so I get great browning and nice grill marks. The deep channels between the ridges keep my food from sitting in the fat and produce a well cooked item. The silicon handle stays cool and is comfortable to hold.
