Has the original artist of this work been credited or received compensation for this work? I understand that there has been an augmentation done to the original piece, which was the mask with tubing, by adding a gramophone (the same one from another of his works) and then creating a polyresin cast from the original leather sculpture, but last I heard the Ukrainian artist was still not being credited or given dues for this.
This is an amazing artist, leatherworker, and visionary in the Steampunk subculture, and deserves artist rights to his work. I am a huge fan of Design Toscano and everything they've offered (and I've purchased) in the past, including several pieces of furniture I have. I hope that this is the only case of such blatant art theft, and that it's more the fault of a buyer dealing with a third party distributor than Toscano commissioning these themselves, or I will now have to look askance at each and every piece of art and wall hanging I have from them...and whether or not they need to go to Goodwill.
