This handcrafted bat house to provide shelter to bats when rearing young and hibernating. Bat boxes generally need to be warm in summer for rearing young and coller in winter for hibernation. This bat box is designed to be draft proof, and is made from timber is both aesthetically attractive and resistant to all weathers. The bats that will use this bat house are species that favour living in crevices and tight spaces. It has been designed with an optimum entrance slit of approx 20mm wide enabling the bats to crawl into their roost. The entrance slit is located at the base of the house, so that accumulated bat waste can drop out or be pushed out when the bats emerge.
