• This armchair is coated with a colourless oil during its manufacture. The impregnation of the oil varies according to the wood species. There may be a small residue. Be sure to remove it with a cloth before first use. You don't need to put oil on your new garden item, you can wait until summer is over. Eucalyptus is a living material. As a result, its appearance changes over time and some cracks appear. This is normal and it is what makes the authentic charm so much appreciated of hardwood. Although robust and weather-resistant, Eucalyptus requires a little maintenance in order to extend its lifespan. Daily, remove leaves, stagnant water and dust. Wash off stains and food residue with soapy water with a sponge. If your table is very dirty, you can use a small stiff brush. In spring and late summer, clean your patio furniture well and let it dry. Once the woodwork is completely dry, apply a thin coat of oil. Be careful, make sure that it will not rain for 24 hours after applying the oil. If your eucalyptus chair has been exposed to a lot of downpours, you may notice that the surface fibres have swelled a little and that the whole is rougher to the touch. To remedy this, sand lightly with fine-grained sandpaper until a smooth appearance is achieved. Once the sanding is finished, apply a coat of oil to restore the garden chair to its original colour. The oil coating is what keeps patio furniture from stains and helps it cope with pollution, weather and mould. If you choose to let your eucalyptus furniture age, without applying the oil twice a year, it will take on a pretty silver colour. However, it will no longer be protected.
• It is important to winter your eucalyptus garden furniture. Store it away from moisture in a cool and ventilated place. If you protect it with a cover, choose polyester ones over PVC ones. Do not put your garden furniture in contact with direct or too strong heat. Do not leave a damp sponge on the tabletop for too long, it will make it rough to the touch.
