I bought these shelves really excited for how they would look in my space. I was put off from paying the £70! Fee to assemble the shelves as if you are selling a product that can be assembled, an able bodied person should be able to assemble it. It also was not very good that the assembly could not be done on the day the shelves arrived meaning I would have to take additional time off work to wait for someone to arrive to do a job that YOU are saying can be done by by myself. The first issue was the instructions. While the diagram was labelled, none of the pieces were which meant it they were not easily identifiable. The pictures were often too small to see which way round a bracket should be attached and some of the pictures were blurry and no help at all. Also, many of the pre drilled holes weren’t straight making it harder to line pieces up and attach cleanly. After assembling the frame, which took two people, we moved on to tacking the back. I don’t know whether the tacks were blunt or too big but having assembled many pieces over the years, I can say this was the worst experience I have ever had. Many of the tacks took significant force, some split the wood as they went in, and no matter how careful I was, some ended up showing on the other side, which I was not able to see until I had finished and then had to remove leaving holes. Many of the tacks are still not flush as they just would not go in any further. I am sure that if the tacks had been more suitable for the job this would not have happened. Tacking across horizontal support bars was virtually impossible even hammering as forcefully as I was comfortable doing. The back is so thin I was afraid I would break it. Finally the doors, again the picture was blurry with no written instructions and i had to Google how to do it in the end. After several attempts I eventually gave up. Considering the price of the items, I do not expect to be paying for shoddy accessories, and pieces that do not assemble well. I will never buy from wayfair again.
