Wood Kitchen Island

I like it. It was fairly hard to put together by myself so I would recommend two people (which it does call for in the instructions). I don’t think I’m a total idiot, but the instructions confused me a little. It took probably 2 hours for me to put together. Mostly because some of the screws are REALLY hard to screw with the Allen wrench. I thought I was going to snap it and had to get my husband to help. The screwsboltsetc. come in one big bag so I took the time to separate them all into piles and note which were which based on the instructions (and to make sure all the pieces were there). It seems solidheavy to me. No chipping paint or scrapes or scuffs from shipping and seemed to be packaged well as the box was rather beat up, which is typical for my address. The color is a little more blue than it looks in the pictures. My cabinets are grey but you can hardly tell a difference unless the island is right up against the cabinets. It rolls well when unlocked and the locks on the wheels hold it very securely when engaged (my 18 lb. cat didn’t move it when jumping from the counter to it). The drawer doesn’t fit a standard Saran Wrap or aluminum foil box, but does hold a store brand gallon zip top bag box. The rollers on the drawer make it open really easily (maybe too easy), but it seems secure like it won’t come out if I open it too hard. The cabinet part fits a lot and you can even adjust the door for an even fit around the edges. The, what I’m calling, spice rack part was a little wonky when putting it together (the tubecolumn pieces), but screwing it all the way down made it flush so I think it just has to be pretty tight. Each section is a slightly different size with the bottom being the tallest. When putting the u-shaped wood pieces together, I recommend starting with what will be the top piece because the screw driver doesn’t fit after you start on the next section if you start at the bottom. It seems like the shelves are small, but they hold quite a lot. I also didn’t put the wine glass rack part on because that’s just asking for my cat to destroy them or to be bumped into by me, plus we don’t drink wine. There’s a lot of space on the shelf without it. The paper towel holder is notched so it doesn’t fall out of the little holes. I put a standard coffee mug on the top to show how big it is (you can also tell from the paper towel roll). The wood seems fairly well made and sturdy. I won’t be cutting anything on it or putting hot things directly on it though. It’ll make a great prep area and it is small enough to not be so in the way but large enough to be useful as a counter. area though. Overall, I’m happy with it.

So far so good! Was a little complicated to put together. I wish the pieces were labeled like the instructions because I put the drawer together backwards. Otherwise it is very handy and sturdy.
