Dean Solid Wood 79 cm H Multimedia Storage

The idea is very good, but a design flaw makes the cabinet a bit useless unless you're prepared to drill a few new holes yourself. Each CD shelf has two support-dowels on which the CDs rest, and a third stopper-dowel that prevents them from falling out when the door is opened. With the stopper-dowel installed, the CDs can only fit with their labels up - making it nigh impossible to read the labels of CDs on the 2nd, 3rd and bottom shelves. Another drawback of the stopper-dowel is that the gap between it and the support dowels of the shelf above is too small. meaning one has to tilt the CDs sideways to insert them. After inserting only a few CDs, one quickly runs out of space in which to manoeuvre the CDs, which means that only the two top shelves can be filled to capacity - the other shelves can only be filled about halfway. The 2 solutions I found were (a) leave out the stopper-dowel completely, but then the CDs tend to fall out if one opens the door too fast and (b) drill new holes for the stopper-dowel, albeit about 15mm lower than the original holes. The problem I encountered with this is that the wood is unbelievably soft, and one needs a special flat-tipped drill to drill the holes, lest one makes a hole right through the side-panel. The supplier gave me permission to drill additional holes, as per solution (b) - but I have as yet to find the correct drill bit for the job. In the mean time, I have removed all the stopper-dowels, and open the doors more carefully now. All-in-all, I love the cute, rustic design, the compact storage and the fact that it fits in so nicely with the rest of our lounge furniture. The only bothersome thing is the stopper-dowel on each CD shelf, and I get the feeling that it was added as an afterthought anyway. Perhaps the manufacturer could revise their design ever so slightly, and then this little cabinet would be perfect.

Disappointed with this cabinet. Looks lovely but the doors don't shut properly despite moving the door hinges several times. The interior shelving was flimsy with dowling poles for the dvd's to sit on and the cd's don't fit in the door section very easily.

Quite rustic , but I am really pleased with it
